Foreign Services and Intelligence Encouraged to Leave Venezuela by Lima Group
A group of Latin American countries meeting in Peru, denoted as the Lima Group, has attempted to dissuade foreign powers from operating in the country of Venezuela, especially condemning any potential use of military force. The country has seen a mass exodus following an increasingly volatile situation regarding a deepening economic and humanitarian crisis in the country. Any sort of foreign intervention would likely destabilize the country and even the region further.
This story was reported on by Reuters, who write consistently reliable stories which report on relevant unfolding situations across the globe. I appreciate the supervision of the situation in Venezuela by the Lima Group, as I believe they wish I o insure safety in the region. This situation reminds me of the confusion and hesitation expressed by the global community to act during the Yugoslav Wars and the humanitarian crisis that was ongoing. I wonder if the United States will act in Venezuela eventually, as they did in the Yugoslav Wars.
