This interview is about Notre Dame recently catching on fire, and how it was a "disaster waiting to happen" in regards to lack of funding to protect it. Luckily, the main structure of the building has been saved and preserved, but it is still a tragedy. The interviewee is a correspondent for Time magazine in Paris, who witnessed the fire, and speaks about the environment and the true culture of Notre Dame, and what makes it different than many other European churches.
The most debated subject about Notre Dame is the fact that so much money was being put into renovating it, although there have been so many other events in the past in need of funding. The Catholic church is known to have lots of money, so I see why they can put some of it into renovation, but why not towards other events, like hurricanes devastating areas and other strong causes as well?
