Flu Season is Longest in a Decade | Daniella Castanheira

In the 2014-2015, the flu season lasted for a record-setting 20 weeks. This year, elevated flu activity has lasted for 21 weeks, and although it has been reported as moderate in severity, 36 million cases of influenza have been reported and an estimated 57,300 have died, and 610,000 people have been hospitalized with flu. A warning goes to those above the age of 65, young children, or pregnant women, as they are most at risk.

This article was written by Debra Goldschmidt and Susan Scutti on April 19th. It is extremely unbiased and only states the facts as opposed to pointing fingers; it is written to inform its audience, not to speculate. This rise of the flu reminds me of the measles outbreak we had from January to April 2019, in which almost 500 cases were confirmed in 20 different states, the second largest number since its eradication in 2000. America is supposed to be a beacon of advancements and technological innovations, making these outbreaks very concerning.
