Cathy Huynh - A suburbia for the homeless exists and they can live there forever

Summary: Community First! Village is built and run by the nonprofit Mobile Loaves & Fishes to lift the most chronically homeless off the streets and into homes. They live in about 100 RVs and 125 micro homes arranged on streets. Heavy machinery has broken ground on the neighboring 24 acres to add another 310 housing units. When complete, the program believes it will be able to provide permanent homes for about 40% of the chronically homeless in Austin. The village was designed in mind to create a sense of community. The homes are small on purpose, providing just enough comfort and privacy, but small enough to encourage owners to step outside. Mobile Loaves & Fishes hopes its effort will encourage a movement across the U.S.

Analysis: This article was written by Christopher Dawson on March 28, 2019. This article may have been written 2 weeks ago, but it was on the headlines of CNN for a moment and this program is still going on. I can connect this program to the Great Depression, Congress tried to get as many people off the streets with jobs, housing, and other relief programs. This article was written for people who sympathize with the homeless and create a positive influence on the audience. This article was written to spread news of the village to the chronic homeless who have not heard of it. This article is important, because it is also calling action to more programs like this across the country.
