Currently, women in Georgia can seek an abortion during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. Georgia is poised to join a growing list of states that have moved to pass strict abortion laws. There has been significant pushback against the strict abortion laws. In my personal belief, I do view the situation as a person who is for pro-choice. This controversial subject can acquire multiple beliefs that can fog a level headed mind. In this particular situation, a baby is quite developed by now with a full figure and true representation of a baby at 20 weeks into a pregnancy. It can be viewed to some as “murder” but I still think regardless of that belief we don’t know the situation better than the woman who is with child.
This controversy can relate to the beginnings of women suffrage and their push and determination to have a say in the democracy. It was viewed down upon to allow women this power but essential they were pushing for it to enable equality and have a say that may potentially benefit the female population. I think the views of abortion go hand in hand with enabling women to vote. It may seem irrational to ask for such a thing so far into a child’s development but they are doing it with responsible reasoning. This issue seems to deem a very tough conclusion, but much like the women suffrage, they will hopefully come to resolution that benefits a vast amount of the population and let the women have a say in what happens to their bodies and lives.
