One of the biggest legal battles over climate change around, and the Supreme court took a strange step.
Juliana v. US (children's climate lawsuit) accused the U.S. government undertaking policies that contributed to climate change, that would hurt the country in the future. The trial was supposed to begin on Oct. 29th, but the U.S. government asked for a stay, and it was granted.
Unfortunately, as the article continued, the lawsuit is unlikely to end in the Juliana side, because new judge Brett Kavanaugh is skeptical of climate change.
This applies to history, because it shows the legal systems being used to someone's advantage. Also it shows how the minds of the judicial branch are not neutral, and their opinions and experience are likely to affect their decisions. Like when Jefferson was blocking Hamilton from carrying through the debt plan. Because of the disadvantage to the government the regulations would cause, they're going to do everything possible to keep it from passing.

It was unknown to me that this was something the Supreme Court was brought into. While I'm glad that finally someone is challenging the U.S. in national court, I know, like you said, that it probably won't end well for Juliana's side. I think that it's incredibly disappointing when people try to take action in bettering the health of our earth and they are so easily turned down by those with more power and authority. I'm hoping in the future that the government considers their actions when it comes to environmental preservation (climate change) rather than being so skeptical about it.
