Shooting at Pittsburgh Synagogue- Kennedy Hannible

Saturday morning, October 27, 2018, Robert Bowers started shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. He opened fire killing 11 people and 6 people were injured 4 of who were police officers who were at the scene. Bowers has made many anti-semitic statements and reportedly made some the morning of the shooting. Incidents like these have started to occur more and more in the United States. The suspect had a rifle and three handguns, and are still investigating if they were purchased illegally. Bowers anti-semitic views are posted all over his social media were he goes on and states his hatred for Jews, immigrants, and President Trump.
My views on this are that the amount of hatred one person can have towards millions of people is what roots the shootings that we see today. Gun violence is a problem that should be handled as soon as possible. It seems as though when people need to prove a point based off of anger there first resort is the shoot someone. These shootings are poisoning our world and establishing a fear in everyone that no place is a safe place from guns and violence. I really hope that gun violence will decrease, but it is not a one person job, but the job of the whole country.

  1. This is a testament of the need for gun control in America. The fact that someone is able to get a hold of weapons only to unjustly kill innocent people is one thing but that they feel it necessary and right to come into a place of worship and kill just because of their religion. They did nothing to harm the killer and simply practicing their religion. This was certainly violence that was uncalled for. Without stricter gun control, our country and our world are becoming a darker place. Lily Philips
