Article: California HS students spell racial slur on lettered T- Shirts
A group of Southern California school students face disciplinary action after spelling out the n-word with lettered t-shirts at senior picnic.
At Escondido Highschool, students wore lettered shirts and were photographed spelling out words while standing side by side,the station reported. The words that are spelled out are usually approved ahead of time but some students spelled out different words after the official photo was taken.
The Escondido Union Highschool District confirmed this feel that about 10 students at a senior picnic "made a poor decision" by participating in a racial slur stunt.
"We are a campus that prides itself on inclusion and embraces diversity", their Principal Adriana Lepe- Ramirez said in a statement.
"We will not tolerate actions that send messages of racism and promote divisiveness".

The audience will be people around the world to bring attention to racism that is still happening to this day and is going on between students. This article is important because it is bringing people to realize that racism is still going on and that people think it is ok. This incident goes back to history when racism first took place and how it still happens but it is just not as bad as before. America has grown but has it really grown that much if things keep happening like this.
I agree that America hasn’t really changed from the past because a lot of things still happen to today that happened back then and we need to see that nothing has changed.
ReplyDeleteIts horrible to see how not much progress has really been made in the case with racism in the United States. I agree that in situations like this, people can get the idea that somehow it is okay when in reality it shouldn't be viewed as even a slightly positive thing
ReplyDeleteI would agree that america has grown and with better technology things are recorded now which therefore informs people, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
