Amazon Under Scrutiny For Marketing to ICE- Yesenia Ramirez
Recently Amazon has confirmed that they have collaborated with immigration (ICE) in a meeting were they disused recently this summer during the moth of July. Even though this occurred several months ago we are barely being informed of this issue due to several complains and events of people being deported. Also hundredths of amazon employees have reported amazon to stop selling facial recognition and many people have started protesting about this issue towards amazon. Another big issue of this is that amazon is giving away information of people to ICE. Even thought this software was made in 2017 it has recently been reported to be used by Oregon police department and that it was recently tested this summer.
This article was recently written by Kaveh Waddell on October 24, 2018 with the purpose of informing people about this current issue and what should we be aware of. My view over this topic is that the government is trying to take over our privacy by taking our information and tracking people down and that know one is safe know days. For example i recently heard on the radio about a person that was being tracked down through facial recognition on amazon because he was an immigrant. Since ICE had gathered all of his information they tracked him down by his car and stopped him, but luckily the person driving the vehicle was his wife who is a US citizen. The way this relates back to history is that they are going against the Bill Of Rights (our first 10 amendments) by invading our privacy and taking our personal information.
Yea. I feel as if this isn't entirely legal... at least I hope not.
