Shooter at Hebron High football game acted in self-defense, witnesses tell police

On Thursday, around 8:30 p.m., there was a single shot outside of the Hebron High School football stadium during a game. Luckily there were no students involved in the shooting. Reports say that there was an altercation in the parking lot that resulted in a 31-year-old man to be shot in the chest. He is in critical condition but is expected to survive. When the two men were brought into custody the police found out that the two men were having an argument during the game which they decided to take outside. The fight escalated, which made the shooter pull out his gun in self-defense and fire. The victim isn't pressing charges.
When I first heard this news, I was really worried, because I was going to go to Hebron High School. In fact, I still have a lot of friends that go there. But I was very relieved to find out that no students were involved. It still sucks that the man got shot but luckily he didn't die and it wasn't a random act of gun violence, it was in self-defense, which in my opinion is why we even have the 2nd Amendment in the first place. But I really hope the man has a speedy recovery and is able to move this behind him.
This is definitely different than most school shooting scenarios, however I wonder what provoked the "act of self defense". Was it simply a heated argument, or was it truly in defense against a physical violation? Also, I most definitely am thankful, that no students or staff members were injured in this process.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason I can assume and confide in this information is because the man did not press charges. I would like to think this was a misunderstanding but crazy things have happened in the parking lot at games because of a simple disagreement.
