Equal Pay For Equal Shreds: World Surf League Will Award Same Prizes To Men And Women

The World Surfer League has finally made the decision to reward men and woman with the same pay prize. Before this change male surfers were rewarded after winning a competition $100,000 while women were rewarded with only $65,000 this was brought to the attention of the league by a junior champion.
Analysis: This is such a huge impact on the woman's rights movement and gives future female surfers a step forward. While most places still have a long way to go, i feel like this decision makes us take such a huge step forward. The way this went unnoticed until someone pointed it out was shocking and these type of things should be talked about more and more. A quote that really stood out to me in this article was this quote "Did the girls surf a different ocean that was easier we don't know about?" which gives you a whole new perspective on the article.
This is incredible and so blatantly sexist. I didn't even know that this was a thing! I think it's awesome that even the surfing community is making steps forward in equality.
