On September 6, 2018, Dallas police officer Amber Guyger returned to what she thought to be her apartment, to find Botham Shem Jean in his apartment. She said that she didn't notice it wasn't her apartment, but her apartment had a distinctive red mat outside, and his did not. In the United States, discrimination and racism have existed since the first slaves were brought over. This systemic racism and police brutality have continued into the 21st century, and examples of this continue to present itself. This article was intended for the public, and to inform them of what happened between a white police officer and a black man. This was created to tell everyone that this is happening in or own communities, and that this isn't just something we hear about in the news. I don't know anything about the author, but this came from CNN so I believe it to be reliable. This is important because lives are being lost everyday due to the same "mistake" made over and over again. This is relevant to our lives today because its happening to people in our own community. In conclusion, this is another horrible instance of public racism and brutality in our world today.
It’s scary to know this happened in my own city. Great work!!!
