The Puerto Rico Governor (Ricardo Rosselló) argues that they are treated like second-class citizens and that needs the be fixed. Puerto Rico doesn’t have statehood status even thought it’s residents are Americans. This meaning they don’t get the right to vote in the US presidential election. And they feel like this problem should have been solved by now because of how long this has been going on.
I agree with this because they should have the same rights as we do because their are US citizens there. And also why hasn’t anybody done anything about this yet and it has been going on for over a century. This ties into the fact that Americans have the right to vote so if there are Americans that live in Puerto Rico why are they being excluded.
Its crazy because sometimes you don't realize that some people in this world still don't have the right to vote. I also agree with your position and why are the Americans in Puerto Rico excluded from voting.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I believe Puerto Ricans should have the same rights as Americans in the United States, considering they are American citizens as well. I don’t understand how the government can take away their rights like voting in our elections even if they a part of our country. Puerto Ricans are citizens too and deserve to be included with the rest of the country. Lily Philips
