Summary:

With these intense floods, resident's lives are at stake, and Florence has now claimed the lives of at least 31 citizens due to the high flood waters. However, about 400 residents were able to be rescued, and the city remains with no power. Officials say that the storm is a monumental disaster to the states, and that the main concern economically are the property damages inflicted by Florence. With the storm being far from improving, the repair cost of the damages continue to rise and placed Florence as one of the top ten costliest hurricanes in history.

Analysis:

This article was just updated today about ten minutes prior to when I read it, which is very up to date on the information that has been released. The prior knowledge I had about Hurricane Florence is that it was once a category 5, and it hit the Carolinas last week and brought floods and strong winds. I also knew that there were about 11 deaths only two days ago. I can connect this article to other major hurricanes in history, such as Katrina and Harvey, and how they had brought economic conflicts to the communities they hit. These major storms bring extreme property damages that are expensive to repair, and brings the community into an economic debt.
