Who gets credit Obama or Trump?

Two presidents Trump and Obama fight over who gets the credit for the strength of the American economy. They both claim credit, President Trump seeks to parlay the nations economic success into a winning midterm message for his embattled party and former President Obama reminds the voters when the strength of the American economy began. Obama said “when you hear how great the economy’s doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started” on Friday in a speech that marked his first foray into the upcoming elections, and Trump immediately denies the speech and said he fell asleep during it. Also, the economy was not struggling when Trump took office. But however when Obama took office in 2009 it was struggling, and he inherited a dismal economy in the middle of a recession that lasted 18 months, and many feared can't it would turn into depression.
My opinion is that Obama should get the credit because when Obama took office in 2009 the economy was struggling, but was later able to turn it around in the first year of his presidency.
I both agree and disagree with you. I agree that Barack Obama should get credit for this because he was the one that started to better the economy but I also believe Donald Trump kept it going and didn't make the mistake of messing that up. I think that in a situation like this the majority of the people would give credit to the president they most likely prefer but I don't think that matters in this case. its just looking at it from both prespectives. -Lesly Marquez

ReplyDeleteI believe that Obama should get the credit because Obamas doings carried on into Trumps presidency. The things that Trump has put into place has in no way effected the economy, its just common sense.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, because every time that President Trump has tweeted or said a word about anything even remotely economics related, the stocks all over the US have dropped immediately, and like you stated, President Obama was the one who picked us up out of debt when we were struggling. Overall, a very well written article.
ReplyDeleteWhile they may have both contributed to the improvements in our economy, I believe Obama should take “credit” for it. He has made a greater amount of change for the better compared to Trump since the economy was struggling when Obama stepped into office. This could change in the future, but I think Obama has a bigger part in improving our economy. Lily Philips
