A german cruiser from the cold war era is in danger of speinging a massive oil leak. A ship that sank in 1945, over 50 years ago holding around 700000 tons of oil went under a nuclear attack from tje Us, surprisingly not damaging the ship itself, but maintaing high radioactivoty levels. Thus, the ship was forced to sink, staying in the ocean, and now a constant threat of an oil spill. The US has already set up a plan to clean up the oil before it even becomes a mess.

This serves to prove one of the many side effects of the cold qar, which for some generations is tense realtionships, and for others, environmental consequences ensued like destroyed towns, habitats that are now uninhabitable due to high radioactivity, and now the danger of this spill. It points to the need for more conscious efforts to repair the environment before it’s too late.

  1. I think that all of the world has caused much damage to the earth already and everyone should do their part even if it is 50 years later to keep it from getting worse. I’m glad that the US is doing their part, even though it’s not even a US ship.

  2. Well, at least the U.S is cleaning it up BEFORE it becomes a mess and damages the ocean even more. It also shows that we need to be aware of what we are doing to the earth by preventing these things from happening. This is also a side effect of war that we need to be aware of.
