Jeff Sessions is receiving backlash due to comments he made, specifically his advice to new immigration court judges. He encouraged them to not let their consciences be swayed and to focus on the law of the land. The backlash came from a multitude of aspects, firstly a key member of the white house trying to get involved in the justice system. This could be seen as trying to push his own agenda onto them. It was also condemned as hypocritical, given that he's used the bible and other very moralistic arguments in similar situations.

This worries me although I can't say I'm surprised. It's eerily familiar to all these dehumanization techniques utilized all throughout history, from slavery to the holocaust. It's unsettling to hear Jeff Sessions promote law over morals, given the cruel state of our laws, particularly the treatment of children. It leaves me uneasy for what is to come.
