This article was
written by AnneClaire Stapleton, Darron Simon, and Eliott C. McLaughlin this
afternoon about Amber Guyger, a white police officer who
was off-duty when she shot Botham Shem Jean, a black man, in his apartment.
Guyger claimed that she believed she was entering her own apartment and shot
the innocent man out of fear of a burglar. I knew a bit about the situation,
but I have a completely different opinion about what happened, and I won’t
share it or sway any other opinions. I know from reading this article that the
authors wrote from a completely unbiased point of view. The article was
intended to show that racial profiling is more common, and dangerous, then some
may think. For that very reason, this is extremely serious and relevant to
recent events. This text relates to US history when we take a look at the African-American
deaths in the past. Lynchings by colonists and the Ku Klux Klan, with its long history of
violence because of prejudices against innocent people. This may be one of the bluntest articles you’ve
ever read, but this is a real issue that NEEDS to be addressed. For more info,

I'm glad you wrote about this! Now we live in a time where we're not even safe in our homes. What can we do to change that?
