Florence has nearly left the Carolinas but the death role keeps piling up as rain , floods , and tornadoes rip through. Florence has killed in total 32 people and I trapped hundreds more. Florence will still deposit 2 to 5 inches of rain because of the tropical storm. Also when the hurricane fully leaves and the rain has finally stopped the water gushing down stream is expected to cause catastrophic flooding.
This makes me think of what happened in Louisiana. Hurricane Katrina nearly wiped them out just like Florence is doing to the Carolinas. Also like what happened in Louisiana there will be long term affects from this hurricane.

It is interesting that you connect Hurricane Katrina to Hurricane Florence, especially as the tropical storm is having a death count that approaches the numerical figure paired with Katrina.
ReplyDeleteGiven that these frequent hurricanes are likely a result of global warming, I wonder what our future will look like. What will become of coastal towns and cities? Are there any practices that can keep damage under control?
ReplyDeleteAre people coming together to help out in Carolina like others did when Hurricane Harvey occurred?
