These Young Protesters Were The Real Stars At The Women's March
An estimated 3-5 million people in America alone were drawn to last year's Women's March protests, and around the same number was drawn this year as well. One big difference from last year's protest to this year's, however, were the people who attended. A recorded "significant chunk of that total were feisty, tenacious, and definitely not old enough to vote (yet)." Plenty of kids showed their belief in equality, education as well as immigration. they waived signs with inspirational slogans, and reminded everyone to "fight like a girl." This display of character made it obvious that children do have a huge influence on the present as well as the future.
This article centers around the idea of upholding the rights of all citizens. This relates to APUSH during the Progressive Era, when reformers such as Ida B. Wells, where fighting for women's rights. Their efforts reflected later when the 19th Amendment was passed: giving women the right to vote. Both the protesters then and now are fighting for their rights, and their actions were and are very powerful.
This shows that our country truly hasn’t made it very far since the 19th amendment was passed. Inequality is still a major problem in our country
ReplyDeleteThe societal change from this year to last year is clearly evident in our protests and is reflected in the younger generations.
