Brooke Simpson-Flu is Causing 1 in 10 Deaths in Counting

Flu is Causing 1 in 10 Deaths I’m Counting

The flu season has been devastating this year with tons of cases, hospitalizations, and even deaths. The problem is that the flu keeps going and people’s immune systems just can’t keep up with it. It has been as bad as the peak of the 2009 outbreak and worse than the 2003 outbreak of the flus, and there have been more deaths this year than all of 2008-09 flu season and keep going. The flu has been responsible for 1 of 10 deaths in the past week, and even that is expected to rise. But the flu is still going strong, and might continue for a couple more months. The flu looks like it is worse than quite a few years, but it is hard to tell because the United States handles the flu differently now, like recommending vaccination to everyone. Even children have died because of the flu, and only half were in the high-risk category.

The article was written on February 10, 2018 by Michelle Cortez. The article was written to inform Americans about the flu season this year and how horrible it’s been. The article is important because the flu season has been horrible and so many people have died and there are more to come. The insane number of flu cases and the large number of flu deaths can be compared to the Spanish influenza outbreak of 1918-19 which killed millions worldwide. There are many innocent people who are dying because of sickness rather than living the rest of their lives which is so sad.
