Summary: Paulette Leaphart has been at the heat of controversy for the past year. Last year, she was 49 years old. Analysis: This article was published Jessica Ravitz on March 31, 2017, yesterday. Ravitz followed Leaphart during her entire journey, and at first thought of her as an inspiring hero, as many others did. However, she began to notice holes in her story. After months of research, it was true that Leaphart had cancer, but she was lying about so many other things in order to raise money so she could live a lavish lifestyle.
Synthesis: This reminds me a lot of when Nixon was involved in corruption and scandal and completely lied to the public. Now, Paulette is nowhere near a president, but just in general, lying to gain public support, or recognition, and in some cases, money, is terribly wrong, and should be severely punished.

ReplyDeleteIt's crazy the lengths that people will go in order to benefit themselves and deceive those who genuinely care about the cause.
ReplyDeleteIt is so unbelievable the extremes people will go to just to get money, I don't understand how this feels okay in their conscience or how people can value money so much to stoop so low.
