Cold War Part 2: War on Oil~Harper Jones

Summary: Russia's state-owned oil company Rosneft might end up owning Citgo, a US energy company based in Houston, Texas. This hinges on the ability of Venezuela's state-run oil company to pay back its Russian loan. The Venezuelan company owns Citgo, which was used as collateral for the loan. Lawmakers are highly alarmed. Members of Congress and senators warned that it could be a big problem for US national security if Russia gets a hold of Citgo. All of this comes as tension is high between US and Russia over the conflict in Syria, cyber crime and Russia meddling in US elections, among other disputes.

Analysis: Before this article, I knew abut Russia's involvement in the election. Honestly, we do not need another cold war or war in general. We are already in deep poop with the middle east, we do not need to  have trouble with Russia (one of the most powerful world powers). If they wanted too, Russia could probably just pull an Hiroshima on us. We do not need these problems nor do we need to experience the aftermath effects.

  1. It's always strange to see the oil industry pop up in history. Full of trouble, the oil industry.
