Victoria Garza "F.D.A. Proposes a Ban on Powdered Medical Gloves"

Recently, the F.D.A. proposed banning the use of powdered medical gloves because of the potential scar tissue to form between organs and tissue on wounds after surgery. Manufacturers originally added the powder to make it easier for the gloves to be put on and taken off. There have been previous warnings of the danger of the gloves but removing them from the market would caused shortages.
It's kind of ironic that the item that is supposed prevent foreign items from entering open wounds is actually potentially harmful. This is like the other products the F.D.A. has come across, since it's creation in 1906 with the Pure Food and Drug Acts that they have changed or banned in order to maintain the safety of the citizens.

  1. I agree, it's interesting that something that is meant to increase sanitary feel has the reverse effect and makes everything more dirty.
