Baby Bald Eagles- Katie Schell (Flex)

original: Mon March 21, 2016 by: Deena Zaru

Two baby Bald Eagles hatched around 8:30 on Friday in the National Arboretum. Their hatching was captured live on the D.C. eagle cam which had been installed in the National Arboretum to keep a eye on "Mr. President" and his "First Lady". The reason this is kind of a big deal is because according to the American Eagle Foundation this was the first time a bald eagle had nested in this area since 1947.
The Bald Eagles is not only our national symbol but it is also endangered. It is really important that we protect this species because it serves not only as a lovely reminder of our freedom but also as a reminder of how delicate a species is.  The babies are really cute looking in the video on CNN and reading the story really just put a smile on my face.

  1. Aww! I think that this story is so sweet. I am so glad that their are organizations in place that work towards the awareness and preservation of endangered species like bald eagles, which are especially important because they are the symbol of this country. Hopefully their work continues and this species continues to grow and recover.
