Recently, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum declared his acceptance of Bruce Jenner and his decision in coming out as a transgender woman. Although Santorum claims he would never attend a gay wedding for a family member or loved one, he still shows his support for Jenner by claiming that Jenner is human and humans should be treated with compassion. This is an interesting turn for him as he was one of the favorites for conservatives during the 2012 presidential election. This slight turn in perspective from Santorum demonstrates how our society is somewhat changing to tolerant and even possibly accept those in the LGBT community even though not everyone feels compelled to be a part of that community.
