A federal appeals court denied Obama's initiative to pass immigration actions in Texas. This marks a victory for Texas and twenty-five other states in their efforts to oppose Obama's plan. The problem at hand is the passing of DAPA and DACA, two laws formed to help teenagers and young adults that were raised in the United States to apply for protection against deportation and to gain employment.
This issue is reminiscent of efforts in the past to limit certain populations from immigrating to the United States. A few examples include the Chinese Exclusion Act and the Immigration Quotas of the 1920s. The nation's immigration policy is still strict which prevents immigrants from easily obtaining citizenship, thus prompting illegal immigration.
Its definitely a vicious cycle. Illegal immigration is a result of strict quotas, but strict quotas are a result of illegal immigration. I hope we can assist Mexico and make the nation better through NAFTA so people will be more willing to stay.
ReplyDeleteI don't quite understand this issue because as we've learned, we're a country of immigrants.
