Oh Parenting (Ashton Garcia 2nd)

A dad called the police to come witness the spanking of his daughter, seeing if it was legal. Corporal punishment is in fact still legal in ALL 50 STATES. And, Child Services has to rule out whether it's abuse or "corporal punishment". Also, scientifically, it does not help behavioral issues, and can actually affect the health of the child. The dad called the police because someone doubted that spanking (with a paddle) was legal. He called the police to prove that he could legally spank his daughter. The police came only to say it was legal, and they have stated that that same or similar situation happens a lot.

This reminds me of APUSH because many people believe that if you act upon someone or people violently, or at least angerly, they will respect you or become peaceful with you or something like that. We do this by starting war, yelling, treating those we feel "lower" or younger than us in a mean way or tone when they make a mistake. Of course, our parents and ancestors have had corporal punishment very present in their lives, which has been seen in history (especially in Catholic schools). But hey, now we know it does more bad than good.

  1. Whether or not what he was doing was legal, that father should be ashamed of himself for putting his daughter in that situation.

  2. That's terrible. I understand that hitting your child can be a method of educating and all that, but why call the police to witness? If it were to witness, you're obviously doing something wrong. If you hit your child because they did something wrong, you should just whack their hand or something, but not to the point where you have to make sure it's legal.
