Philip Chism is on trial for the aggravated rape and murder of his high school math teacher, Colleen Ritzer, when Ritzer was found dead in the girl's bathroom of his school on October 22. Chism was found with a bloody boxcutter and women's underwear the day he was arrested. Now on trial, prosecutors added another count of aggravated rape-- when the victim is sexually assualted in a brutal way or other crimes are being committed at the same time. Chism is only a 15 year old freshman, but there are clear tapes of him committing the crime and going in and out of the ladies' restroom.
Reading this was horrifying. I know there are so many stories of men and women killing loved ones or strangers, but the fact that a freshman carried this out is awful. I don't understand how someone so young can have these thoughts and the impulsivity to act upon them. Reading the article, there's no evidence it seems like it could've been someone else besides Chism. What goes through people's heads to kill their math teacher? How did he get away with it? That brings up the question: do we put security cameras in bathrooms? I know it feels like an evasion of privacy, but they would be useful in dangerous sitatuions like these (although it doesn't happen very often) idk. just some things for you to ponder.

Wow, this is extremely disturbing. I wonder how the teachers and students feel. I probably wouldn't go to school for a while.
