Preacher passes due to venomous snake - Emily Gray 5th period

Jamie Coots, a snake handling preacher, was found dead from a snake bite. Paramedics arrived at his house an hour before he passed away trying to persuade coots to seek help but he refused it. Coots was a preacher who defied the laws of religion and was one of the few people who used snakes in his sermons.

When I read this article, I thought it was very interesting. The fact that he used snakes in his sermons makes an impact on everyone. He proved that he was the only one to defy the laws and use snakes which persuades me I could do something like his too. Not use snakes is sermons but changing the way people think is a good possibility.

  1. This man must be able to see into the future. Truly ironic.

  2. I find the fascination with snakes in the south wonderfully wacky. Whether snakes are being equated with satan or whether they are being harnessed for their supposed holy power, they seem to be a pivotal theme of christianity, especially within the Holyness movement. Interesting article. My grandfather was a snake handler.
