Nana Johnson p2 - California's Drought as Seen From Space

California's latest satellite image shows a historic drought on vegetation this winter. The drought spans through the north to the south. NASA said the drought isn't only a winter thing, the past 12 months have actually been the driest since 1885. 95% of the state is experiencing drought, with 70% in extreme drought. President Obama announced $160 million in federal aid.

Analysis: Because we just went over the Dust Bowl, I thought this article was pretty relevant. This drought not only causes a huge problem in vegetation, but it also opens up a huge alley for weather-related disasters. Wildfires, floods, and storms are harsher when there are droughts. It puts communities at a risk of running out of drinking water. Groundwater then runs the risk of becoming contaminated. The biggest issues is: there is nothing they can do about the lack of precipitation. Luckily, the government has already started financially helping communities in California.
