Nia Edwards 4th period Arizona jailbird escapes to meet his girlfriend on Valentines Day
Nia Edwards
On Valentines Day, a jailbird, Joseph Andrew Dekenipp escaped prison in order to meet up with his girlfriend at a nearby bar. He was so determined to see her that on Friday afternoon he crawled past razor wire, scaled two fences and made his way to a bar about 10 miles away. The authorities used drug dogs to search for him but his scent could not be found. They then preceded to stop cars in search for the man. They finally got a tip from two teenagers who had said they helped drive Dekenipp to the bar where he was supposed to meet his girlfriend. In less than three hours Dekenipp was back in jail. Before his escape "Dekenipp had been booked in jail last month on various charges, including suspected car theft, unlawful flight and driving on a suspended license." Now facing escape charges, Joseph Dekenipp may be apart from his girlfriend for a longer time.
I feel like Joseph Dekenipp could have handled this better. I think he should have known that no good could have come from his escape from jail. Now he will be in jail for a longer period of time than he was scheduled for before. I mean it is sweet that he wanted to see his girlfriend on Valentines Day but was it really worth it?

I completely agree with you. Dekenipp should not have escaped to see her. The fact that he wanted to see her so badly is very sweet, but the extended jail time isn't going to help with that.
