Over 3 Days, Volunteers Pack over 2 Million Meals- Casey Lampert 4th Period

In Novi, Michigan, thousands of volunteers participated in a 3 day effort to package 2 million meals to be shipped to El Salvador, Haiti and the Philippines. They made enough meals to provide one meal a day for a year to 5,560 children. The members of the church who were leading the project raised all the money for the food supplies themselves, totaling around $400,000. The chief operator of the project did a similar one a few years ago, packaging around 1 million meals, but felt that he could accomplish even more than that.

The fact that so many people felt compelled to come and help out with this project through time and money contributions, despite them not knowing exactly who will be receiving the product, is really incredible. The meals that they made will have such a positive impact on the lives of the people that the meals are going to, it's crazy to think that we are so capable of making such a huge difference. I'm really impressed and inspired by Brad Powell, the leader of the group, for not feeling like having done it once was enough.
