The United Nations recently released a report detailing the horrific crimes against humanity committed by the government of North Korea. The panel conducting this also sent a letter to North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, stating that he may be prosecuted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. This letter was met with an official response from the government of North Korea dismissing the accusations, calling the calls for prosecution as a cover for Western resentment of the socialist utopia in North Korea. Meanwhile, those who escaped from North Korea tell terrifying tales of abuse, famine, and totalitarian brainwashing. I hope that some concrete action is taken about North Korea. I'm not sure who would have the authority to do that, or how it would be done, and to what extent a new government would be given, or if the people should have the decision as to how they should be governed. It's a giant uncertain muddle right now, and I hope it doesn't stay that way. And for something completely different, have any of you seen the most recent season of House of Cards? Crazy, right?

I just don't understand why people think it's okay for them to be dictators. You wouldn't like it if someone else was doing it. So stop doing to other people. #ICan't
ReplyDeleteIt is always surprising how the most corrupt and malevolent people in the world are oblivious to the fact that they are corrupt and malevolent. Or, these people might be fully aware of the wrongness in their actions, but they proceed to do it anyways. There are numerous people in the world who crave the feeling of control and influence over another to the point of totally disregarding moral boundaries.
