Sophia Zhukova - US plans to punish visa violators

The old house is discussing the possibility of tightening the visa policy in relation to the states whose citizens most often illegally remain in the United States, violating the terms of stay. The newspaper The Wall Street Journal published material according to which restrictions may affect states whose citizens who have received business and tourist visas in the United States (category B1 / B2), often violate the terms of their stay on American territory.Citizens of these countries are considering the possibility of reducing the time spent in the United States, increasing duties, and also complicating the process of obtaining American visas. The Politico publication, citing the US Department of Homeland Security, announced that the new rules could be introduced by presidential decree. According to statistics from the US Department of Homeland Security for 2017 (the latest available data), the duration of stay violated 0.35% of visitors from states with which the United States has a visa-free regime. For citizens of countries that require a visa to visit the United States, this figure is 1.86%.For students or foreigners who arrived in the United States on exchange programs - 3.73%.

Most visa violators arrived in the United States from Africa and the Middle East. In particular, for Djibouti this figure is almost 44%, for Yemen - more than 28%, for Syria - more than 17%.

Visa violations were committed by 1.72% of Russian citizens, 4.01% - Belarus, 2.4% - Ukraine, 2.92% - Moldova, 7.62% - Azerbaijan, 4.6% - Armenia, 10.72% - Georgia, 3.27% - Kazakhstan, 3.20% - Kyrgyzstan, 9.10% - Turkmenistan and 6.68% of the citizens of Uzbekistan.

I think it is really important for government to control immigration, because first in first it's protection for all the American citizens. There are many people who immigrate here not only with good plans. Many people are being here illegally. It is a really hard thing to control, because most of criminal will find the way to get here. I, as immigrant, can say that it is really hard to get all your documents ready, like citizenship stuff. It takes much longer to get it in comparison with how quick you could do it at least 2 years ago. But anyway, I think it is a good thing what government's doing because putting restriction laws, the same thing America did in the past, for example putting Chinese Exclusion Act, and looking more carefully through all the immigrant's applications makes it more safe for people who are already true citizens of the US.
