On Monday morning, one of Paris' iconic works of architecture, the Notre Dame Cathedral, erupted in flames due to a construction accident. Over 400 firefighters responded to the scene and quickly attempted to control the fire. Unfortunately, most of the artworks and the spire that stood on the roof collapsed and were destroyed within the flames. The citizens of Paris stood in shock as the 800-year-old building burned, sung hymns, and mourned over this tragedy. The city of Paris vowed to rebuild the cathedral as soon as possible to restore the architectural jewel of France.

This is so sad, especially since the building meant so much to many people. This reminds me of the wildfires that happened in California not so long ago since it wasn't easy to put those out either and people lost valuable things in their homes. I had some prior knowledge to this subject as it blew up on every social platform the minute the fire began. This tragic event is mourned throughout the world as we witnessed a historic landmark that had stood for over 800 years, collapse under flames. The building survived through both world wars and was built centuries before the Americas were even discovered.
