The Notre-Dame cathedral which is a symbol for beauty and history of Paris, was up in flames by an extensive fire Monday evening. It caused its delicate spire to collapse. The flames came from the cathedrals wooden roof. About 500 firefighters battled thr blaze for nearly five hours. The two buildings were spared, but about 2/3rds of the roof was completley burnt. The fire had broke out about 6: 30 p.m. and didn't end till around 11 p.m. The cathedral is visited by about 13 million people per year.
