Earlier this week, Brian Michael Rini claimed to be Timmothy Pitzen, a boy who went missing at the age of 6 in 2011. Rini had portrayed himself as a victim of sexual and physical abuse over the course of many years. Fortunately, Rini's claims were proven to be a hoax after he had taken a DNA test. He stuck with his story even after being questioned by fifty officers and public health officials. After he was identified it was revealed that Rini had committed two previous crimes before his most recent stunt.
I can't understand why someone would try something like this. His actions harmed the Pitzen family and his own. My apologies go out to the Pitzen family, I can't possibly imagine the pain that this might have brought back. I hope that this incident shows the importance of telling the truth, especially to the federal police.
