Former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld has announced that he will be running against Donald Trump for the GOP nomination, the first Republican to announce that he is challenging Trump. He has strongly opposed Trump, on the 2016 ticket as libertarian vice presidential candidate. He has stated that he would fear for this country if Trump had 6 more years in office. It will be difficult to get the votes because Trump currently has a 90% approval rating among Republicans. Weld hopes to work with both parties to actually get things done. He is ashamed with the current administration and wants to bring more moderate ideals.
The article states that Weld is running, but it provides little information about his policies and beliefs. It still gives home to the left that there is someone opposing Trump. The article is from CNN, so the author is definitely happy to see the challenge to Trump and highlights the flaws that Weld has pointed out in Trump's presidency.
It is pretty uncommon that the sitting president is not reelected when running again. Recently, Jimmy Carter and George Bush Sr. were not reelected do to the issues with their presidencies. Hopefully we can ad Donald Trump to the list of one term presidents.
