3 Black Churches Burned in 10 Days in Louisiana- Gracie Zytynski
An article written by Richard Fausset apart of the New York Times discusses that on three historically black churches have burned in less than two weeks. On Sunday, the third church, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, was burned in Opelousas, Louisiana. The officials have said that they had found "suspicious elements" in each case, persuading them that this was no accident. This connects to the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. In September 1963, there was a bombing at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, killing four African-American girls during church service. It was later fond that the Klu Klux Klan had set the bomb. Overall, both these incident were horrible and it shows that America's history is repeating itself.
I think this is very sad that people would do this and hope that the people who set fire to these churches are caught and punished for their actions. It is sad that these things continue to happen and that history has not taught people how wrong it is to have hate towards any group of people who are a different race or religion than they are.
