The article i read about today talks about a registered sex offender that has been in jail, has been charged for the kidnapping of 2 Arizona girls who went missing 2012, 2014. Christopher Mathew Clements was indicted on Friday. A grand jury of 21 criminal courts. He also pleaded guilty and was charged for other ex-related crimes in 1998. He was convicted and sentenced to serve 46 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

This is an interesting topic to talk about. Sex-related crimes have been things people have been talking about alot lately. The audience of this whole article could be sex offenders or maybe even other young girls, like the Arizonan girls in this case. This relates to U.S History becuase in 1994 Jacob Wetterling dropped an act against crimes against children and sexually violent offenders, called the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement of 1994.

  1. Chloe Meinershagen - I am not sure how we can totally fix this issue, but I don't think letting out sex offenders early is the right decision. Mandetory therapy and help on the physiology of not abusing women would definitely help, but only having to spend such a little time in jail does nothing but prove to men like him that what they're doing is ok and can be done again.

  2. I don't think an imprisonment system designed for eventual release can be effective in "fixing" their occupants without a mental health system attached. Even with simple crimes like a robbery. Especially, though, with this case because men like him generally have an underlying reason or cause for their actions. Now I am not saying that these actions should be forgiven by any means, but if we intend to release people of his nature, we must conduct the appropriate neurological precautions.

  3. I don't necessarily agree with his sentence time, People get off too easily for crimes like this. I agree with what zoe said letting someone with that mindset out without some type of therapy won't "fix" the issue. Its like a child cussing so u put him in time out all of recess he isn't going to stop they will just come up with better ways! It isn't working and it needs to change. Thank you for this interesting topic! kloerhoden
