Trump says ban on 'bump stocks' coming https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/01/politics/trump-bump-fire-stocks/index.html
The gun issue is a big one. Honestly, I don’t think it’s going to get any better in the near future.
And even though Trump has claimed that he’s going to ban bump stocks, I think that promise is going to go the same way as Carter’s proposal for the energy crisis.
The difference here is that Carter campaigned on solving the energy crisis. He attempted to install solar panels on the White House and spoke emphatically about conservation.
So if Carter’s main campaign promise went by the wayside, then Trump’s desultory bumpstock statement probably won’t have any substance either. The reason these two are similar is because both occurred right before a midterm election.
Also, while researching this, I found out it’s President Carter’s Birthday. I didn’t mean to bash him on his BDay.
Happy 94th, Jimmy.
Banning bump stocks would be a huge change for the U.S., and most probably a positive one, though there would be economic drawbacks. Unfortunately, the NRA is completely entangled in the gun issue, and by extension, the bump stocks. Trump needs to find a very compelling reason for the NRA to give up a sizable portion of their annual income in the banning of bump stocks.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the gun issue is terrible and it’s sad that people can’t see that and it might get worse in the future but we need to see this now.
ReplyDeleteI think that bump stocks are completely unnecessary and there should be no reason for them in our society today. I think that in the end, President Trump will be more worried about the small economic impact that banning them will have rather than the impact on people's lives.
