Trump claims Pittsburgh shooting had nothing to do with gun laws

Caden dickinson

There was a shooting Saturday morning in Pittsburgh at a synagogue, the shooter killed at least 8 people and injured another 12. Trumps comments on the event were about how if the synagogue was armed then all of this could’ve been avoided. Now I personally disagree with this logic because instead of having more guns so that everyone can protect against people with guns, we could just have more strict guns laws so that no one  gets shot.

  1. I can see where your logic is coming from, and, in theory, it seems like a good idea. However, pragmatically speaking, this is not how it works. Stricter gun laws do not prevent shootings from occuring. For example, Marjory Stoneman Douglass high school is a gun-free zone and was at the time of the shooting. This means that you cannot carry a gun onto the campus, yet it still happened.
Columbine high school was another gun-free zone in which people were unable to protect themselves from an unhinged gunman.
So were Sandy Hoook Elementary School and the Century 16 theatre in Aurora, Colorado. The list goes on. When was the last time you heard about a police station being shot up, or a gun show, or a gun shop? It doesn't happen because there is sufficient protection against an evil, crazy murderer who knows that there will be no chance of success.

    1. Also, what historical event does this connect to and where is the link to the article?

    2. All of the events you have listed prove that there have been issues with guns for years on years on years, and the fact that nothing has changed despite the list of tragedies that keeps building proves how desperately we need to work as a country to change and prevent these incidents in the future.
