Kloe Rhoden- Kanye controversy.
While reading an News article I discovered that Kanye West commented on TMZ.He made multiple remarks about wanting to abolish the 13th amendment. The 13th amendment was the one that abolished slavery. He later added that, "Abolish was the wrong language. I misspoke by saying abolish. Amend is the right language." He states that he the 13th amendment only freed the slaves not the criminals, who are allowed to be treated as criminals. Basically saying that all you have to do is convict a man and boom he is a slave. I agree. Criminals are abused and treated awful in society almost like the slaves were after being freed. There are many restrictions and things an ex convict must deal with like after slavery. They couldn't go certain places or enjoy certain things even getting a job was a struggle and the same goes for ex- covicts. They cannot get jobs at certain places, they cannot buy certain things many rights are stripped. To conclude I agree with Kanye I just disagree with his wording.

i do agree with what you are saying in this analysis. I like the topic you are talking about because its something that has literally happened recently. It's an interesting topic because like any other case there are some people that will agree and some that won't. I also disagree with his wording but agree with the message he attempted to convey.
ReplyDeletei also agree with what you are saying, i think kanye doesnt quite know what power his words have and how many people are influenced by him, so when he says something so bold like that without much context, it can be alarming.
ReplyDeleteI also agree. At first I was alarmed and confused ,but now I understand what he is saying. The things that people go through after jail may make them feel like jail is better. I have heard people(on jail/prison shows) say that they are scared to go to the real world since they have been in jail for so long and got used to it. A lot of times they wonder how they will survive since (like you said) getting a job is difficult and people are constantly judging them. Kanye may not be the best with his wording, but I do agree with the message he is giving.
