Indonesia Tsunami Survivors Are Burying the Dead and Desperate for Aid

Indonesia Tsunami Survivors Are Burying the Dead and Desperate for Aid

Recently, Indonesia was struck by one of the worst tsunamis in history, due to an increase in seismic activity in the area. The country's warning system which, supposedly, according to the government, sent out a distress system, proved to be wildly ineffective, as no citizens took action and they claim that the never received any warning from the government. Nearly a thousand people were killed, yet the infrastructural damage was even greater. Roads were demolished, prison breaks ensued, and the city descended into near anarchy. The city has received very little foreign aid and is currently in ruins
However, history repeats itself, and, while this particular event reminds me of the Puerto Rican crisis in which aid was not delivered with enough haste or intensity to be effective, and the island was subjugated to disaster. The Indonesian island of Sumba was rocked by the hurricane and sent into a state of crisis.
