Trump is no longer giving visas to same sex partners

This week the state department revoked its provincial visa policy for same-sex partners of foreign staff working at the United Nations other diplomatic missions in the United States. This means that the same-sex couples will have to get married in order to stay in the country together which is an option that still doesn’t exist in a lot of countries.  The same-sex partners will have until the end of the December to get married, or their partners will be sent home in January. Exceptions may be made for those who come from countries that don’t allow same-sex marriage or do a sept US same-sex diplomatic spouses. They have asked “with this change, the state department is enforcing pretty in the way they recognize opposite-sex partnerships and same-sex partnerships,‘ in this statement the staff of the LGBT queue community said “it is an unfortunate change in rules, since same-sex couples and like opposite-sex couples, have limited choices when it comes to marriage.“

I believe that what Trump is doing is unfair and disrespectful to the LGBT community I believe that the same-sex partners deserve the same rights as opposite sex partners and I believe that they  shouldn’t be forced to get married before December if not they will be sent back to their country.

  1. I find it to be absolutely ridiculous that Trump has done this. I understand that not every person believes that same-sex couples are okay, and I respect their beliefs, but I feel that regardless of what they think, it shouldn't affect how they treat other people. On top of that, a lot of these immigrants are probably coming to the U.S. in hopes of their identities being accepted, or at least tolerated, unlike in many countries of the world. I am incredibly upset to hear this.

  2. I think once again trump is causing even more separation within our country. Giving specific rights to specific groups of people is what was happening back in the day. We are repeating history instead of moving forward together.

  4. I think that it is very unfortunate that LGBTQ individuals are not treated as people, especially by our commander in chief. Donald Trump is supposed to be President of all people and that includes gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. People are not supposed to be told when they can spend the rest if their lives together through marriage.

  5. Just because Trump does not agree that same sex marriage is “ok” does not mean that thousands of people in America are involved in same sex marriages. I completely agree with what you are saying because someone’s actions toward others should not be authorized based on their beliefs. - Paige McManaman

  7. I think they have come so far and made so made so many advances to the future only for this to happen to same sex partners. It sets them back for how hard they have worked for and it’s unfair and ridiculous that Trump is doing this. ~ Stephannie Hernandez
