I read an article about a 12 year old girl, Delany Unger, who was a dancer. Her mom, Melissa, had recieved a call in December of 2016 from her doctor saying that she had a mass on her femur. She had been diagnosed with a rare and agressive bone cancer called osteosarcoma of her knee, which would require chemotherapy and amputation of the knee. Today she shows no signs of cancer, despite having a left leg that now faces backward. There was a procedure called rotationplasty where they took meat from the girl ankle, calf anf foot to make a new knee and place it backwards, the knee was supposed to eventually turn itself naturally the way it was supposed to go. The parents decided to take the chance of the procdeure and it ended up working so the now 14 year old girl can dance again.
I am not a dance major so i don't really understand how she could be feeling, but the horror of her finding out what she was diagnosed with was probably terrifying. This relates to history because of in the past when there were so many diseases and illness, escpecially when Jamestown, Virgina was jounded and there was diseases in early virgina.
