White police officer arrested on manslaughter warrant after shooting dead black man in his own home.

Last Thursday a white female off duty police officer shot a black man while he was peacefully resting in his home. She claimed that she thought it was her home and she was defending herself.  The officer had a past of being trigger happy, In my opinion no matter how dis oriented you are, you know your home. You know your furniture and you wouldn't have to beat on the door to get in your home, you would have a key. This is just another example of white privilege. The woman was not arrested until three days later, while a black boy can walk home and be shot dead by a cop. This woman was not arrested for murder until 3 days later, the man lived on a completely different floor, this was a crime that needs to be punished. Everyone should be able to go and rest in their home knowing they are safe and can let their guard down. The world is stressful enough and adding that on is just a crime.https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/white-police-officer-shoot-black-man-texas-arrest-manslaughter-amber-guyger-botham-jean-a8530406.html

  1. Wouldn’t you think she would notice her stuff wasn’t at her “home”?

  2. I don't see a way the officer wouldn't have noticed that it wasn't her home. Like you said, people know their own houses! It is not okay that it took them THREE DAYS to arrest this woman.

  3. There’s no way you can walk into a house and not know that it’s not yours. Even if it was dark, she would’ve walked into a piece of furniture. I really hope the police dig more into this case because something is not right.

  4. It is so mind-boggling that this woman could not recognize her own home.
She could have taken such a different approach at the time, rather than shoot an innocent man.

  5. I'm really confused about the officer not knowing it was her owe home? Maybe she was drunk? and plus officers are not allowed to use their guns off duty.

  6. Personally I don't think she was telling the truth about thinking the house was hers. That narrative simply makes no sense. I'm just glad she was punished for what she did, which typically doesn't happen.

  7. I understand that people make mistakes, but she really didn't have to shoot that man. Even if he had been a burglar, she could've approached the situation peacefully and used her gun ONLY if it turned violent. Police officers are supposed to be trained to use guns and not act impulsively. She definitely didn't think through her options. What upsets me most is that so many times, police officers get less harsh punishments for crimes- or at least more controversy over the punishment, as if being an officer excuses your actions.

  8. I had read up on this story and apparently all floors were identical except for a different colored floor map. But, even if she did think it was her house, as a policewoman, she should have asked who is was and confirm if he was a ‘thief’/ inform him she has a gun, and not try to immediately shoot him. And the fact it took THREE days to arrest her is outrageous. - Sophie Knox

  10. How do you not know that that isn’t your home. You got in the right car, drove to the right apartment, went on the wrong floor, and shot an innocent person. And man slaughter seriously she will get 15 years and get out early with parole
