KADAR WESLEY PRICE

Chicago PD Officer Jason Van Dyke shoots and murders 17 year old Laquan McDonald in the year of 2014. But only 4 years later is he facing the consequences, this year in 2018 is Van Dykes murder trial. I think it's horrible that horendous acts like this go unpunished for so long, especially when it's done against African Americans. The racial injustice in this matter just goes to show you that America is still a racist country. I say this because, if a white man were shot and killed the situation would be handled swift and just.

When I think about the kids who see and watch this, they have to be scared, because they're seeing their brothers and sisters being put down one by one. This article was written to remind us that we still have work to do, because this kind of opression dates all the way back to when Blacks were slaves. I think that in some way we're still slaves and that the only difference is we don't bare chains and the whip has been substituted for a gun. Things have to change, because if it remains the same, America as a whole will only get worse.

  1. I agree with you how these horrible acts go unpunished for so long and sometimes these victims don’t get justice for what happened to them. ~ Stephannie Hernandez
