Donald Trump has made it quite clear that there's only one thing in his best interest: his own benefit. And the best part of this revelation is that the stark opposite is his literal job description. The Fox News analyst who made this statement, Juan Williams, said that Trump enjoys 'fake majority'. Whew chile, I couldn't have said it any better.
This article was produced September 3rd. So in my case, today. Of course, it's a conclusion reached after analysis over time, and honestly this bigotry has been going on long before Trump even had the bright idea of running for president. A short while back in AP Lang, we discussed how an editor of Washington Post flat out called Trump a liar--which is revolutionary as his statements are usually labeled as "alleged" or "unclear". It's as simple as saying he lied to the public and moving on, but then, where's the fun in that; which is what makes the blunt of this so fascinating. I think our society is finally starting to realize that our current president really isn't do us many favors as a nation. (something us p.o.c. knew way back yonder, but who ever listened to us)
The address was written for a general audience with the purpose of shedding light on another irrationality of our president. The effect is quite obviously negative, because no one really wants to hear that their president is promoting racism, but it's important regardless--hopefully we can reach a common ground that this wasn't one of America's most...flattering decisions, if you will. This piece is probably really going to help someone struggling to understand just what is going on. You go, person! Things are falling apart at alarming rates. :))
I don't read a lot of articles and to be quite honest they're mostly tabloids like what latest celeb's lost weight, but the presentation is very factual, referencing previous statements made by Williams and providing his stance. News is always pertinent. We should be at least acutely aware of what's going on around us so we perhaps make moves to change them. In conclusion, this is just another thing we've got to figure out how to live with.
I agree with this so much. Like you said, people of color have been knowing that 45 was going to infect this country with so much hate. Obviously, this hate has existed for centuries, but I think that it's clear people are becoming more blatantly racist. What's worse is that people haven't always known how evil this man is until recently, as his growing disapproval rates show.
